Cubs News: Willson Contreras thanks Jon Lester: "My pleasure to be your catcher"

It was a historic six-year run for 'Big Jon'.

Former Chicago Cubs ace Jon Lester is off to be a member of the Washington Nationals for the 2021 season.

As a Cubs player, Lester had a 77-44 record with a 3.64 ERA in 171 starts, including a sparkling 2.44 ERA in 12 playoff games. He was co-MVP of the 2016 NLCS, going 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA and a two-time All-Star with the ballclub.

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras wished him well and wanted to say thank you to Big Jon for all the memories as battery mates.

"One of the best lefties in MLB history," he tweeted. "Thank you, Big Jon. I know you're good anywhere and everywhere you go, was my pleasure to be your catcher."

Best of luck to Lester in Washington, and it was a pleasure to cover your time in Chicago for the last six years.
