Matt Nagy announces the Bears' starting QB will be a game-time decision vs. Lions

The Chicago Bears are keeping it hush-hush on their starter for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.

Veteran quarterback Andy Dalton has been limited in practice for three straight days and he continues to heal from this left bone bruise while rookie quarterback Justin Fields has been a full-go all week in practice despite nursing a right thumb injury.

Bears head coach Matt Nagy told the media Friday that he won't announce a starter until he sees how the players are injury-wise on Sunday before the game.

"It's ongoing," Nagy said. "It's today. It's tomorrow. It's Sunday. The good part about both of those guys is that they're both progressing in the right way. And then what we've got to do is be able to see where Andy's at, really up until Sunday. That's why it's the game-time decision."

Fields is staying upbeat and going to stay prepared in case they call his number for the second start of his NFL career.

"Being second-string, you've got to prepare like you're the starter," Fields said. "You've got to be prepared whether or not you're going out there or not."
