Should Cubs trade Willson Contreras for pitching?

Now that David Ross has formally been announced as the Cubs new manager, the team can now shift their focus to fixing some of the recent problems of this team. From an inconsistent offense, aging starting rotation, and crapshoot of a bullpen, the Cubs certainly have holes to fill moving toward 2020. Full Story »

I don't believe we should trade Contreras for pitching. The only flaw is his framing, and I think Ross, having been a catcher could address that in Spring Training.

I agree with working on his framing and he even isn't at his arbitration years yet.

I would probably trade Caratini if I had to trade a catcher because someone could use a switch hitter that plays catcher and first base. He's probably coveted by teams as well with his youth and upside.

I don't think any player should be untradeable on this team. Having said that, it would take quite the haul for the Cubs to part with Contreras. He is arguably the best catcher in baseball right now and if he could improve his pitch framing, he would be off the charts unbelievable. I also love his passion for the game.

Agreed. It would be an interesting stack of players for sure in any trade. I do think Caratini can't be happy being a 1x a week player and might be traded for his continued growth as a big leaguer.
