Baez fires back at Pirates manager: "I bust my ass"

by - Senior Editor -

It appears that Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle and Cubs star Javy Baez won't be sending Christmas cards to each other.

Baez had four homers during the series against the Pirates and showed some raw emotion and bat did some bat flips after his monster homers. Even threw his bat to the ground after a pop-up.

Hurdle didn't care for much of it especially Baez throwing his bat in disgust.

“Where is the respect for the game?" Hurdle said to the media.

Baez was obviously annoyed about the comments by Hurdle following Thursday's loss to the Pirates.

"I bust my ass every day to play hard. No one plays this game harder than me. I respect 90. But you don't go out there and talk trash about someone."

Baez went a step farther and said only people that he needs to worry about is his own team.

"If I have to apologize to anybody, it's my teammates and my manager, he said. "To be honest, I got a lot of things I can say right now. But I don’t control what’s out there, what people talk about me. I’m just going to keep playing my game."

Baez doesn't want to listen to the haters including Hurdle.

"We won (last night) and it got to him. We lost the series, but we’re still the same. I’m happy. There’s music in the clubhouse. There’s nothing to take personally. People that talk about me, they can save it. I don’t control it. I don’t really care about it."

For the season, he is batting .229 with four homers and 10 RBIs.
