Cubs News: Bryant gives an update on his injured shoulder

by - Senior Editor -

Kris Bryant is finally pain-free.

The standout third baseman has finally swung a bat since he landed on the disabled list for the second time this season with left shoulder inflammation.

"I've had some time off and really not doing too much," he said during pre-game of Saturday's game. "Just keeping my legs in shape, but yeah, I feel a lot better."

Bryant is excited that he was able to swing a bat for the first time in several weeks.

"Nothing super crazy, but it's nice to be able to pick up a bat," he said. "Obviously still kinda going a little slow, but seems to be the smart thing to do."

Bryant thinks he will be back sooner than later with the progression with his rehab of late.

"Yeah, absolutely. I feel confident," he said. "It would be pretty silly if I wasn't, just in my mind. I'm totally confident that I'll be back."

Bryant knows that he needs to be 100 percent to help his team win games down the stretch.

"As much as it stinks to be on the DL, I see it as a win for me."

The training staff has no timetable yet on Bryant's return.

For the season, Bryant is batting .276 with 11 homers and 44 RBIs.
