Cubs News: Maddon defends his lineup choices: "Heyward is going to play most of the time"

Fans of the Chicago Cubs are passionate about their daily lineups for their team.

Each day when manager Joe Maddon produces his starting lineups, some percentage of the fanbase disagrees with his choices on Twitter, usually surrounded on the fact that young defensive wiz Albert Almora Jr. is not in a starring role.

Maddon spoke to the media on Thursday about the second-guessing of the fans on Twitter about his lineups.

"I can't emphasize enough for those on Twitter asking these questions, it's really important to balance all these guys playing time. If you look at their at-bats right now, it's pretty even.," Maddon told ESPN's Jesse Rogers.

Maddon grouped Ian Happ, Almora Jr., and Ben Zobrist together but thinks that gold-glover outfielder Jason Heyward is out in front of them with regards to starting on a daily basis.

"Jason is going to play most of the time," he said.

Heyward is batting .256 with two homers and 20 RBIs this season.
