WATCH: Morrow discusses his injury

CHICAGO — Following the Chicago Cubs' 9-6 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday, Cubs closer Brandon Morrow chatted with reporters about his latest injury, which landed him on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to July 18.

The injury is officially listed as right biceps inflammation. Evidently, Morrow, a right-hander, felt tightness in his throwing arm during the Cubs' recent series with the San Diego Padres that did not go away during the All-Star break.

"It's nothing that I can't clear up with rest," a positive Morrow told reporters postgame. "I'll get reevaluated on Sunday when the doctor comes in. It's day by day. It's based on how I feel."

Seemingly more of a precautionary measure, Morrow's current disabled-list stint is the second one that he has experienced in the past month, as he was placed on the disabled list with lower back tightness in late June.

When speaking on the nature of his latest injury, Morrow stated that it was no way connected to last month's ailment.

"It's not in the same exact spot. I seem to rotate injuries. I never hurt the same place twice. So it's a new one, but it's manageable."

Having accrued 22 saves in his first season with the Cubs, Morrow has flourished at the back end of Chicago's bullpen, and the Cubs can ill afford to be without him for an extended period of time. However, Morrow expressed confidence while speaking to the media that he will return to action sooner rather than later.

"We've got a good idea of how to proceed," Morrow said, "and I'm hopeful that it's just a muscle strain that'll clear up."
