Chicago Cubs (54-47) @ San Francisco Giants (52-50)

Tyler Chatwood (4-1, 4.30) vs. Tyler Beede (3-3, 4.70)

Finale of 3-game set. Cubs looking to avoid getting swept. Chatwood starting in place of Lester, who's sick with bronchitis. Cubs also playing without Russell, who was demoted to the minors earlier in the day.

T3 — Javy stays hot w/ a laser to deep right-center. The ball gets hung underneath the fence for a ground-rule double. Baez reached 3B, & Maddon's not happy b/c Slater grabbed the ball & threw it back to the IF. KB hits an ensuing 2-run jack to make it a moot point.

F — Belt gives the Cubs a brief scare w/ a drive to deep LF, but Schwarber gets underneath it & makes the game-ending catch. Cubs avoid suffering a sweep on a day w/ plenty of drama on & off the field.
