Commentary: It’s time for COVID-19 forfeitures

Thanks to several members of the St. Louis Cardinals, this weekend's series with the Cubs, as you know, was postponed. I think it's time that offenders start getting penalized with forfeitures. Full Story »

Since Manfred won't do anything:

These clubs need to step up and act. The players that went out to casinos and strip clubs should be suspended for a week without pay once they recover from Covid-19. This may seem harsh but it would send a strong message, this behavior will not be tolerated. It would not be fair to penalize their teammates who unknowingly were exposed and caught the virus, and they should not be penalized. I thought the tax squads were increased to 5 players, if not they should be and this should be made permanent for this season. Further, while the 60 man player squad is not really being used to the fullest as most teams are understandably stacking them with pitchers. The 60 man player squad should be increased to 65 players with the additional 5 players being required to be non-pitchers. Out of the additional player pool from 28 to 60, at least 12 (a dozen) of these players should be required to be non-pitchers. The teams should then be forced to use the additional players from the 65 player squad to be able to play their games instead of having all these postponements. I would also increase the roster to 29 from 28 players. So, the clubs do have an extra arm available.
