I have a gut feeling that the Chapman overuse fiasco of last postseason could very well become the Davis overuse fiasco of this season. Because this bullpen is just entirely too untrustworthy. Perhaps Duensing will settle into a groove, but Strop seems to be good for just one inning before he falls apart. And C.J. and Montgomery are entirety too unpredictable. Maybe Lackey will be the ace in the hole for the remainder of the playoffs.
Yeah, well Davis is about to have to pitch at least two innings every game from here on out lol. Hope his arm is up for it.
7.08 ERA for Chicago bullpen in these playoffs. Absolutely pathetic. And think about how atrocious the ERA would be without Davis factored in.
I would say that Lackey might end up being the secret weapon, but he didn't really look the part tonight.
One thing is for certain: Montgomery is toast. Dude should not enter the game unless it's a last resort. Strop, Duensing, Lackey and Davis should be the only four Maddon looks to right now.
