Cubs and PGA Tour Champions want to create a pro-am golf event during spring training in Arizona
The Cubs and the Western Golf Association plan to partner on a new golf event. It would feature players from the PGA Tour Champions and fans in a pro-am style during spring training in Arizona.

They could call it the Waste Management Phoenix Open and set up special boxes around the 16th hole for maximum viewing and drinking.

With the above tournament already being played a few weeks before the start of camps, having another tournament so close after it would be tough to sell.

I'm not much of a golf fan, but I used to play. I'd generally shoot about 68...for 9... I'd be ok with it if it was for charity or something, not like Jon Lester needs the money.

Seems like a ton of Cubs players are avid golfers so they are probably into having it and participating if possible.
