Rubber match of 3-game series. Chatwood making a spot start for the Cubs in place of Darvish. Zobrist available to play for the Cubs.

E5 — KB gets rung up to end the inning. FWIW, Javy drew his 2nd walk of the day in the 5th inning. That's just the 2nd time all season he's drawn multiple walks in the same game. He's also batting in the leadoff spot today.

T7 — Counsell comes out to argue K of Grandal. Grandal ejected for dropping his AB. Counsell not tossed. A couple of borderline strike calls in the AB, but they were reasonable strike calls. Counsell likely mostly upset b/c of the quick trigger finger by the ump in throwing Grandal out.

There have been a lot of ridiculous ejections around baseball this season. Umps not showing much self-control & quickly throwing guys out. Becoming like NBA referees dishing out technicals. Have to wonder if MLB is going to address that in the offseason.

B9 — HBP of Happ overturned on Brewers challenge. Ball just missed grazing the front of Happ. Sends Zobrist back into the dugout for the time being. He was in the on-deck circle & was cheered when he came out of the dugout.

Craig Counsell schools Joe Maddon today. His pitching matchups were perfect and then he got the Cubs where he wanted them in the ninth. Yelich makes Kimbrel look like a high school pitcher and Hader makes Cub hitters look like Jr. High level hacks. Lesson over.
