Chicago Cubs (56-50) @ St. Louis Cardinals (57-49)

Kyle Hendricks (7-8, 3.26) vs. Miles Mikolas (7-10, 4.19)

Second matchup of 3-game series. First outing for the Cubs since they made several deals at the trade deadline. Heyward will lead off for the Cubs against his old club.

B3 — Controversial play doesn't go the Cubs' way. Mikolas seems to intentionally interfere with Bote on a play at 1B. Bad throw from Javy ruled an error, but Mikolas definitely intentionally swatted at Bote's arm. Play not reviewable. Runners on the corners with 0 outs.

E3 — Great job by Hendricks to escape jam after the controversial no-call. A K & 2 straight groundouts after that. No runs come across for the Cards.

B4 — Goldschmidt drills a double off the wall in LF. Schwarber comes up with an incredible that very nearly results in Goldy being tagged out. Goldy slides in safely, though, for a leadoff 2-bagger.

T6 — Cubs break the scoreless tie. An error helps KB reach base. Rizzo then draws a walk, and, with 2 outs, Happ comes through with his 1st big hit of the season on RBI single to RF.

T8 — Baez hits a ground-rule double that's initially called foul. Cubs' challenge results in it being called fair. Javy then scores on throwing error by Wieters, who sends a throw sailing into the OF.
