Chicago Cubs (54-45) @ San Francisco Giants (50-50)

Alec Mills (0-0, 4.50) vs. Shaun Anderson (3-2, 4.87)

Opener of 3-game series by the bay. Giants are quietly one of the hottest teams in baseball right now. Mills is making his second start in place of the injured Hamels.

B5 — Giants tack on a run in the 5th after Almora barely misses out on what would've been an incredible diving catch. Yaz's grandson plates a run w/ an RBI single. Mills then pulled from the game.

E7 — Great diving stop by KB helps keep Cubs in front. Hard-hit grounder fielded by Bryant, who then fires to 1B to end inning & leave 2 stranded.

Cubs have been mentioned in several trade rumors regarding closers who could potentially serve as Kimbrel's setup man. Strops's woes are part of the reason for that. His ERA is now 5.47. Needless to say, that's not good for a backend reliever.

F — Cubs get a couple of baserunners w/ 2 outs, but Schwarber pops out to end the game. Disheartening loss for the Cubs. Similar to several of the losses suffered by the Cubs early on in the season.
