Former Chicago Cubs pitcher Travis Wood was a fan favorite during his stay in Chicago as he helped the North Siders win a World Series Championship for the first time in over 100 years.

In 2018, he signed a minor league deal with the Detriot Tigers to try to stick in the major leagues. However, recent events can't help his cause with a nasty crossbow accident that nearly took off his finger.

Currently, he has a pin in his finger and can't even wear a glove.

Wood told the following to MLive.com about a hunting trip that he was preparing for with his 7-year old.

“When I went to put the arrow in, it just went off when it wasn’t supposed to. The string went through the finger,” Wood said. “It was broken in two places and almost went all the way through.”

Hopefully, the X-rays will be OK for Wood and he will be able to wear a splint and start practicing with his team soon.

Check out the gruesome picture of his finger below.
