Home Runs

Not surprised to see that the theme of the Cubs' season has carried over into the NLCS: kill or be killed by way of the home-run ball.

A shame that such a quality outing by Quintana, the weak link of the rotation, might go to waste.

Yet again, living and dying by the home-run ball. Only three hits for the Cubs on the night...and one of them was by Lester. Of course, the only notable hit was...wait for it...a home run by Russell. It's cool that the Cubs can score 14 against the Reds in August by hitting five home runs, but that won't work in the playoffs. The offense has to come alive from the get-go in Game 3 if the Cubs don't want their season to end soon.

playoff baseball is usually just a bunch of solo homers. It's hard to string a bunch of hits together with all of the relievers coming in and throwing 98 MPH.

Hopefully, the Cubs can draw some walks tonight and move some runners over and get a lead for Hendricks.
