we would go out of our way to find the Cubs on tv in the late 80s even in south carolina. Harry was one of a kind because you never knew what he would say next.

Not sure how old you are 90TigerCub, but back in the day, Harry used to drink Falstaff beer out of a goblet (before changing to Bud) while he announced Sox games. He was usually pretty tanked by about the 5th inning, which is when the lunacy would begin. Being older (I'm 53 now), I grew up with Jack Brickhouse, who was assisted by guys like Milo Hamilton and Jimmy West (among several others). Brickhouse was a pretty straight-forward guy, who never said anything outrageous (at least as I recall), so when Harry first came to the Cubs, it was culture-shock to me, to say the least.
