Is Russell weighing down the team?

(This is actually from tomorrow's column)

Post-suspension and with a little extra time in Iowa, Addison Russell has been back with the Cubs since May 8. In that time, he’s appeared in a total of 5 games (May 8-12, May 14) and has had a total of 8 at bats. Slashing just .125/.300/.250, he’s had just one hit (a double), has no RBI, and has walked twice, while striking out three times.

In the five games in which he’s appeared, the Cubs have posted a 4-1 record, however, they’ve only broken even with their opponents in terms of run scoring (12-12). In the most recent five games in which Russell has not appeared, (May 4-7 and May 9), the Cubs also went 4-1, but outscored their opponents 33-19.

Maybe it's not just his bat that's weighing the team down...

8 at-bats is not a very large sample size obviously to judge anyone.

More than that, look at run differential with and without him. Seems like they don't play as well in his presence.

I agree with Tony. We need to see a month's worth before...oh, wait he just sent a long one out of here. I'm good for now.

I digress. Nice homer- and credit of course.
