I can't believe we are down to just 10 weeks until the non-waiver trade deadline. It'll be interesting to see what the Cubs do. Very few extensions have been offered/signed, but obviously we know guys like Javy, Rizzo, Bryant, Bote are safe, as is the starting rotation. A closer seems to be on the top of the list, and there's still scuttlebutt about the desire for a veteran backstop.
I still think Happ is in jeopardy, and it wouldn't surprise me to see them try to move Russell, especially if Theo is going the other way with long-term plans, which could include seeing Happ at second base at some point. I have to think some relievers may go- Ryan, Webster, maybe Collins. I know that Montgomery has a strong desire to start, and that's just not happening anytime soon- at least not in Chicago.
