Not sure he has proven himself yet so maybe the Cubs are getting a deal.

could be a home run or a strikeout...not sure yet with under 80 games in his MLB career.

Cubs will give Bote every chance to be a big time player now so it can be a good deal for the Cubs. Might be a smart business decision by Bote.

I don't see a downside to this deal.

Yea it's a pretty cheap contract. Worse case I think he is a backup util for infield for many years and those guys are valuable.

Very team friendly deal, but as long as Bote is happy, I'm happy that we have him for a while.

He's a good player to have on your team that has a good attitude backing up several players.

If somehow the Cubs can't afford Bryant down the line, he will be in line to start at third base as long as he continues to mature and get better.

To have a possible starter for $3 million, it's how you can afford other guys like extensions for Baez, Rizzo, etc.

The Cubs will never retain all of the current infield. I'd bet Bryant will be the first to go, demanding "Harper-esque money, so keeping Bote was a very smart move.
