It appears they were just doing Arrieta a favor by acting like they would offer him if Darvish declined.

Classy move by Epstein and crew and obviously Scott Boras wants this information to be linked that his player was somewhat coveted by his former team.

Boras is not a fan favorite or by the owners. I guess if I think about it, the only people that like him are his clients that he has made rich.

It's gonna be sorta awkward he goes down from his initial $200 million that they were wanting for Arrieta and gets around $80 million.

Honestly, I think Arrieta and his agent will still get a higher year average than Darvish ($21 mil) because of some of the crappy teams wanting to make a big splash. It certainly will be interesting this season in the National League Central if he signs with the Cardinals and Brewers.
