Eh, honestly, the batting order was lackluster all around. Hard to blame the two guys who carried the team this far. Only eight runs all postseason. Enrique Hernandez drove in just one less than that in one night. Basically a culmination of the post-All-Star break Cubs: living and dying by the home-run ball. August and September featured far too many games in which the Cubs either accrued less than four hits or more than four home runs. One extreme or the other. And we saw that in the postseason. Either dominant hitting against subpar opposing pitching or awful hitting against great opposing pitching. Not nearly enough walks. No small ball to speak of. Definitely a far cry from last postseason.

These guys are gassed. Swings are late and they have played a crapload of games in the last few years. The World Series tour didn't help last year when they got zero rest.

They need the rest and I bet they rake next year.
