Selected by the Red Sox in the 13th round of the First-Year Player Draft… was previously selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 41st round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft.... three-year player at the University of Kentucky... as a junior, Shepherd was sidelined by a forearm laceration that forced him to miss 21 days, but he returned to a relief role, making one start, to post a 3.66 ERA in 16 games…As a sophomore, Shepherd was dominant, appearing in 26 games, posting a 2.77 ERA and 5-0 record over 55.1 innings…Shepherd earned accolades with his summer performances, earning All-Star honors in the Cape Cod League in 2013 and Perfect Game Collegiate League Pitcher of the Year honors in 2012…Collegiate teammate of 2013 Spinners pitcher Corey Littrell… Enters the 2017 season ranked by Baseball America as the Red Sox' No. 23 prospect. Has recorded 159 SO against only 36 BB in his career, posting a 1.06 WHIP and a 4.42 SO/BB ratio. Participated in the Red Sox Rookie Development Program in January 2017.
