Don't worry about the baseball owners, though, as the league as a whole has seen a remarkable increase in team values.
According to Forbes in their latest study, the average MLB team value is up 12% this year, reaching a new record of $2.32 billion. This increase is largely due to the league's continued growth despite still having blackouts on television.
At the top of the list, the New York Yankees continue to dominate with a team value of $7.1 billion. The Los Angeles Dodgers come in second, with a value of $4.8 billion, followed closely by the Boston Red Sox at $4.5 billion.
The fourth most valuable MLB franchise is the Chicago Cubs, with a team value of $4.1 billion.
Rounding out the top five is the San Francisco Giants, with a team value of $3.7 billion.
Overall, the success of these five teams is a reflection of the growing popularity and financial strength of the MLB as a whole.
