Today on the Cubs Corner podcast Anthony talked with the Cubs’ pregame and post-game host, David Kaplan.
Kaplan, 58, is a Chicago media personality known for his ESPN 1000 radio show Kap and Company and his NBC Sports Chicago TV show called Sports Talk Live.
Today Kaplan talked with Anthony about the Cubbies on this week’s edition of the Cubs Corner.
Kap first made it clear that the Cubs are better than the Pirates and Phillies, whom the Cubs play next on the road. Kap guaranteed that the Cubs go 6-4 on the road trip or better and is sticking to that.
Kaplan also said his biggest concern regarding the team is the offense. They have been impactful as of late, but maintaining that consistency as a threat to score is not only their biggest concern but aside from health, the biggest key to playoff success or potential championship success.
He is also an avid Nicholas Castellanos fan in his brief stint with the Cubs and hopes that the Cubs can lock up him and his professional at-bats long term.
There have been talks as of late about Joe Maddon and his optimism regarding a potential return to the Cubs next season. Kaplan thinks the script is yet to be written in regards to that but also doesn’t understand why people want to get rid of a guy who has averaged 90+ wins in four hugely successful season during the golden age of baseball for the Cubs that brought a World Series to Chicago.
Despite the Marquee Sports Network launching in February and offering Kaplan a handsome offer, he expressed his happiness with his current work with ESPN 1000 and NBC Sports Chicago and announced he would be staying with his current job instead of jumping over to the new network.
