by - Senior Editor -

Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo is a superstar on and off the field.

Rizzo has decided to donate $650,000 to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Health System. Most of the money will go to assist children and young adults with counseling and other support called the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation Hope 44 Program. With this latest check, The Anthony Rizzo Foundation has gifted over one million dollars to the hospital.

Rizzo was a patient at Sylvester for lymphoma back in 2008.

"I am proud to support the University of Miami and the incredible work they are doing to find a cure for cancer," Rizzo said in a statement. "Sylvester will always have a special place in my heart, and I am honored to be able to give back and create the Hope 44 program there to ensure every family has a fighting chance."

Rizzo is certainly making a difference in Chicago and through all the people that he is able to help in his charity.
