CHICAGO — In the bottom of the fifth on Saturday, Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo was pinch hit for, which came as a surprise. With the Cubs trailing the Washington Nationals 5-2 at Wrigley Field, Cubs catcher Jonathan Lucroy pinch hit for Rizzo.

Soon afterward, a Cubs official told members of the media that Rizzo departed the contest due to mid-back tightness. Considering that Rizzo played the field in the top of the fifth, it is likely that the injury was a lingering ailment that led to Rizzo being removed for precautionary reasons.
