Jake Arrieta was named National League Pitcher of the Month for August on Sunday.
In 37.1 innings in August, he was 4-1 with five quality starts posting a 1.21 ERA with 37 strikeouts. He has been a huge part of the Cubs turnaround in the second half of the season with his impressive 1.59 ERA during that time span. It was Arrieta's fourth National League Pitcher of the Month award for his career. For the season, Arrieta has a 14-8 record with a 3.36 ERA with 153 strikeouts and 1.18 WHIP. During his career, he is 88-54 with 3.55 ERA with 1060 strikeouts and 1.16 WHIP. Corey Kluber was the American League Pitcher of the Month for August. A familiar feeling.
