Astros on World Series hangover: "We're not the Cubs"

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs won the 2016 World Series after a drought of 108 long years and gave so much happiness to Cubs nation.

Most media pundits thought that the Cubs would be back in the World Series last year, but they started off very sluggish to begin the season running out of steam and were eventually bounced out of the playoffs by a talented Los Angeles Dodgers team in the National League Championship Series.

The Houston Astros won the October Classic last season for the first time in franchise history and don't want a World Series hangover like the Cubs did after their magical 2016 season.

"We're not the Cubs," lefty pitcher Dallas Keuchel Keuchel said. "I firmly believe we have better players."

Wow. That is some extreme confidence coming from the Astros, and it's truly challenging to repeat as World Series Champions. Everything has to go right including some luck to have a chance to make it back as one of the two final teams playing in October.

I would imagine if the Cubs and the Astros play in the 2018 World Series, this quote will resurface for locker room fodder for the North Siders.

The regular season can't start soon enough.
