Cubs News: Baez leaves game with leg injury

by - Senior Editor -

Chicago Cubs second baseman Javier Baez left Monday night's blowout win against the Cardinals with a leg injury.

Baez fouled a ball off his right knee and laid on the ground for nearly two minutes. The training staff checked him over and he stayed in the game in the 8th inning. Moments later, he hit a single but then called for the trailers after he got to first base. He was seen walking off slowly off the field before going into the clubhouse area.

Ian Happ replaced him as a pinch-runner and ended up scoring during the inning.

Hopefully, Baez's injury is just a day-to-day thing and nothing that will linger for the Cubs as it is the last week of the regular season.
