Cubs News: Ben Zobrist headed to the 10-day DL |
The Chicago Cubs veteran utility player
Ben Zobrist is headed to the 10-day disabled list.
Zobrist told reporters on Friday night that his back injury is only 90% and the team wants to make sure it is fully recovered before risking him in action. The move won't be officially announced until Saturday afternoon as the team will move someone up from Triple-A Iowa to take his roster spot while he rests. The Cubs can make his injury retroactive to April 14 and he should be able to play after the team's current road trip. The 36-year old is currently batting an impressive .326 in 49 at-bats this season and was one of the few brights spots early on when the team was struggling so mightily offensively during some of the games. Since the emergence of Almora Jr. in the starting lineup, Zobrist has the time to make sure his back problems go away.
