Brewers All-Star apologizes for racist and homophobic tweets

by - Senior Editor -

Safe to say that Brewers reliever Josh Hader didn't really enjoy his first All-Star experience.

During the prestigious event, he gave up a three-run blast to Mariners shortstop Jean Segura to pretty much seal the deal for the American League.

However, it would get a whole lot worse for Hader as he would have plenty of explaining to do after the game after some racist and homophobic tweets surfaced from his past.

According to USA Today, his tweets included subjects like White Power, KKK, N-word, and "hating gay people."

Hader was honest as the reporters confronted him about his past messages on Twitter.

"You know, it was something that happened when I was 17 years old," he said. "As a child, I was immature, and I obviously said some things that were inexcusable. That doesn't reflect on who I am as a person today, and that's just what it is."

Hader said he has no excuse for the tweets but it is not who he is as a person.

"You can't, there's no excuse for what was said. I'm deeply sorry for what I've said and what's been going on, and like I said, it doesn't reflect any of my beliefs going on now."

For the season, he has a perfect 2-0 record with a sparkling 1.50 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 48 innings.
