Cardinals announcer has awful take about Cubs

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs finally have a day off after their 30 games in 30 days marathon and finished with an 18-11 record during that span.

During that time, the Cubs pitching performed well with key starts from the veteran group consisting of Jon Lester, Jose Quintana, Kyle Hendricks, Cole Hamels, and Mike Montgomery.

However, it appears it wasn't enough for one observer as St. Louis Cardinals announcer Tim McCarver told MLB Network's High Heat on Thursday that Cubs pitching is basically garbage.

"That's the one thing that the Cubs don't have," he told the show. "The Cubs bullpen is not good and their starting staff is not good. You know how important starters and relievers are in postseason play."

The Cubs currently have the best bullpen ERA in the National League at 3.30 and their starters have a 3.89 ERA which is fifth-best in the league.

Do better McCarver. We know that the Cubs are not as great as their elite potential without a healthy Yu Darvish and Brandon Morrow but to say they are 'not good' is not even trying to look at the truth.
