Cubs-Cardinals to play during 2018 All-Star break

Tony Crumpton Tony Crumpton - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals are bitter rivals in the National League Central and it is one of the best rivalries in sports.

The Cardinals have won six straight games and trail the Cubs by only one game in the division. It is the closest they have been to first place since May 27.

For the first time in major league history, the two teams will play in a special featured game at Wrigley Field on that Thursday during the 2018 All-Star break according to multiple reports.

I am not sure this is advantageous for either team as they will be the only two teams in baseball that won't get any rest. However, not all the details have been released so hopefully there is a handsome reward for the winning team.

One other reported change is that spring training next year will be shorter while the regular season will start earlier next season.
