Cubs-Nationals game in a rain delay

CHICAGO -- The NLCS playoff series featuring the Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals is currently in a rain delay announced by team officials. There is no rain yet falling at Wrigley but it is about to get nasty according to the forecast and local radar.

Here is what is on the Cubs video board currently:

"GAME UPDATE -- Due to the forecast of inclement weather, the start of today's game has been delayed. More information will be provided when available.

MLB officials will meet at 4:30 p.m. CT and have another update about the rain delay after that meeting.

4:14 p.m. CT Update: Grounds crew is starting to cover home plate and mound.
4:17 p.m. CT Update: Grounds crew rolling out the tarp.
4:38 p.m. CT Update: MLB officials will have an update on the game at 5 p.m. CT.
5:10 p.m. CT Update: The rain has begun to fall at Wrigley Field.


Cubs manager Joe Maddon said during his pregame interview that he will stick with starter Jake Arrieta for Game 4 regardless if the game is rained out and moved to Wednesday.

In contrast, Dusty Baker said that he was unsure whether Tanner Roark or Stephen Strasburg would start if Game 4 is moved to Wednesday.

If necessary, Kyle Hendricks will start for the Cubs in game five against the Nationals.
