Cubs agree to deal with Kyle Hendricks

by - Senior Editor -

The 'Professor' and the Chicago Cubs have come to an agreement.

The Cubs signed starter Kyle Hendricks to a one-year deal worth $4.175 million so they would avoid an arbitration case with him according to multiple reports. It appears that the Cubs got a good deal with Hendricks as MLBTR had a projection of $4.9 million salary in 2018 for Hendricks.

Last season, his contract was for only $760,500.

Hendricks is one of the top starters in the National League and is still grossly underpaid to his peers at four million. However, once he hits free agency, he will eventually get paid in the ten million plus category as long as he stays healthy.

In 2017, Hendricks was 7-5 with 3.03 ERA with 123 strikeouts and 1.19 WHIP. For his career, he is 38-22 with 2.94 ERA with 507 strikeouts and 1.10 WHIP.

He was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 8th round of the 2011 MLB draft.
