Cubs News: Morrow injures his back taking off his pants

by - Senior Editor -

Chicago Cubs closer Brandon Morrow was not available for Tuesday afternoon's 4-3 loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Morrow said during postgame that his back tightened up on him after the team got back from St. Louis on Monday.

"I was taking my pants off after getting home at 3 a.m," Morrows said to the media. "Got my right leg off. My left one, I felt spasms in my back."

Morrow was upset that he couldn't help his team and the embarrassing way that he got injured.

"It's frustrating any time you can't get out there, and especially when you can't go because of something stupid like taking your pants off," he said.

In the ninth inning, Kyle Farmer hit the go-ahead double on his final strike off of reliever Justin Wilson to put the Dodgers up for good 4-3.

Morrow has been pretty much automatic in save situations this season as the team's closer going 16-for-17 but has not pitched since June 7.

If he is not available for an extended period of time, relievers Pedro Strop and Justin Wilson will more than likely take on a larger role in the bullpen.
