Cubs lineup vs. Cardinals, Baez returns |
Friday night's batting lineup for the first game of the series between the Cubs (60-42) and the Cardinals (51-51) at 7:15 p.m. CDT will be the following:
1. Anthony Rizzo 1B 2. Albert Almora Jr. CF 3. Jason Heyward RF 4. Javier Baez SS 5. Ben Zobrist 2B 6. Kyle Schwarber LF 7. Ian Happ 3B 8. Mike Montgomery P 9. Victor Caratini C It will be a pitching battle between Montgomery (3-3, 3.73 ERA) and Luke Weaver (5-9, 4.79). Cubs slugger Anthony Rizzo is back in the leadoff spot which is the 27th time in his career. Joe Maddon is batting catcher Victor Caratini ninth so he can try to get someone on base for the hot-hitting Rizzo. Good news for the Cubs as Javy Baez returns to the lineup after having a sore knee. The Cubs game will be televised nationally on NBC Sports Chicago and MLB Network (out-of-market only).
