Thursday's batting lineup for the first game of the series between the Cubs (62-45) and the Padres (42-68) at 6:05 p.m. CDT will be the following:

3. Jason Heyward RF

4. Javier Baez 2B

5. Willson Contreras C

6. Ian Happ LF

7. Addison Russell SS

8. Mike Montgomery P

9. David Bote 3B

It will be a pitching battle between Montgomery (3-4, 4.03 ERA) and lefty Robbie Erlin (1-3, 3.47).

In injury news for the Cubs, Drew Smyly (sim game), Yu Darvish, and Brandon Morrow all through in the outfield today.
