The Chicago Cubs (25-26) will battle the San Diego Padres (21-33) at 2:40 p.m. CDT on Wednesday afternoon televised on WGN-TV.

Righty Jake Arrieta will take the mound for the defending World Champions as he tries to get the Cubs back on track after they have lost five straight games during this road trip.

Cubs young shortstop Addison Russell is not in the starting lineup and will be replaced by Javy Baez.

The Cubs are currently back tied for second place in the National League Central with the St. Louis Cardinals.
