Cubs release 'thank you' tribute video for Jake Arrieta |
Jake Arrieta is arguably one of the top starting pitchers in Chicago Cubs history. The veteran pitcher is now off to Philly on a three-year deal after a long offseason waiting on his baseball future.
Sometimes a moment doesn't last forever, but it was an impressive ride for Arrieta and the Cubs. The memorable moments from the two no-hitters, an incredible pitching run including a dominant CY Young season, and he was one of the leading factors (2-0 record in WS) that helped bring a World Series title to the city of Chicago after a 108-year wait. In 2017, Arrieta was 14-10 with 3.53 ERA with 163 strikeouts and 1.22 WHIP. During his successful career transformation with the Cubs, he was 68-31 with a 2.73 ERA in 128 career starts. In his exciting Cy Young Award-winning year in 2015, he was 22-6 with a sparkling 1.77 ERA. Arrieta was so dominant that he finished in the Top 10 of the National League CY Young voting for three straight years (2004-2016). The Cubs Twitter account posted a tribute video saying thank you to Arrieta for all that he had accomplished with the North Siders. For what you’ve done for this franchise. For what you’ve done for this city. For what you do for the game. Thank you, @JArrieta34.
