Cubs reportedly interested in former NL All-Star

The Chicago Cubs are looking for one more starting pitcher to round out their rotation for 2018.

During the winter meetings, the Cubs have shown interest in former National League All-Star (2013) pitcher Matt Harvey.

"Cubs have shown some interest in Matt Harvey. As with O's and Rangers, unclear how serious as of yet," Huffington Post's Andy Martino tweeted.

The Mets currently have him for the 2018 season as they tendered him and he will make around $6 million in his final season with the team before hitting free agency. He could be a low risk, high reward player that the Cubs are looking for in their last spot in the rotation or a guy that could come out of the bullpen.

However, he has been through so many injuries including thoracic outlet syndrome surgery in 2017, that I would be wary of giving any decent prospects in return.

In 2017, Harvey had a 5-7 record with 6.70 ERA with 67 strikeouts and 1.69 WHIP. For his career, he is 34-35 with 3.51 ERA with 592 strikeouts and 1.18 WHIP.

He was drafted in the first round (7th overall) by the Mets in the 2010 MLB Draft.
