The Chicago Cubs have locked up several young players (0-3 years of MLB experience) to pre-arbitration salaries for the 2018 season on Sunday.
Here is the full rundown of the seven players and their new finalized contracts for 2018: Javier Baez $657,000 Mike Montgomery $611,250 Kyle Schwarber $604,500 Willson Contreras $604,500 Carl Edwards Jr. $594,000 Albert Almora Jr. $584,500 Ian Happ $570,000 (renewal over $540K minimum) In Year 7 of Theo regime, Ian Happ becomes first pre-arbitration Cub to have contract renewed (at $25,000 above big-league minimum). GM Jed Hoyer: "There's zero hard feelings." This is great that their deals are done for the season, and hopefully, the players are satisfied with their contracts and ready to produce in 2018.
