Cubs still on top in World Series TV ratings

by - Senior Writer -

Despite being perhaps the wackiest, most unpredictable Fall Classic ever, the 2017 World Series could not top the 2016 World Series in terms of public allure.

Serving as the second-highest-rated television broadcast of a baseball game since 2004, the Game 7 duel between the Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Dodgers still fell short of last year's Game 7 between the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians. In fact, it fell short by quite a lot.

Dropping 25 percent in ratings, the 2017 clincher did not live up to the hype of the Cubs looking to end a 108-year drought.

While the sizable difference between the two Game 7s is fairly surprising, as the 2017 World Series provided fans with everything and more in terms of excitement, it speaks volumes on the sheer intrigue that the Cubs brought to the table in their long-awaited chance at ending the curse.
