Cubs still want to dress up despite hazing rule

by - Senior Editor -

Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon loves to do different team-building exercises where he gets his players to dress up in various outfits throughout the course of the season. In 2016, the dress up by the players must have worked as they won the team's first World Series since 1908.

However, MLB offices announced a new hazing rule recently where it prohibited players from dressing up as women or wearing offensive costumes during the season.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon doesn't think what his team does is hazing because it is just about fun and getting out of your comfort zone as a team.

“I think hazing is different than what we do. It’s about stepping outside your comfort zone,” Maddon told ESPN. “Any costume can do that. There’s growth involved. If they can get past that thought, then what happens on the field can become less stressful in a sense.”

The Cubs still would like to keep things interesting as backup catcher Miguel Montero suggested skirting the rule by wearing wrestling tights while pitcher Jake Arrieta suggested that the team wear Speedos this season.
