Cubs News: David Ross on lineup changes with Javy Baez batting sixth

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs are coming down the home stretch of games as they try to position themselves for postseason play in 2020.

The team will need their lineup to reach their full potential so they have a chance to have a very successful season.

Ross spoke with the media Tuesday during pregame and talked about batting Javy Baez sixth for the first time this season.

"I just flip-flopped him," Ross said about Baez. "Willy is swinging the bat a little better. Javy has been coming around having good at-bats. Willy is swinging the bat a little better."

Ross might make a few more lineup changes in the next few weeks as Kris Bryant is back in the lineup.

"I may start moving some things around a little bit more, trying to find a little bit more continuity. I definitely went with the trust factor early on most of the season and letting these guys feed off each other's at-bats and how the lineup works. But, now we're starting to get a clear picture of who's having the good at-bats, who's having a good season, who's coming along."

Ross added that the lineup is pretty talented.

"The lineup is really deep when you have Javy Baez batting sixth obviously. He could very easily be back in the third or fourth hole at some point too."
