The Chicago Cubs top prospect Eloy Jimenez has been named to play for the World team in the 2017 MLB All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, July 9 at 3 p.m. CT at Marlins Park.

Jimenez is batting .269 with seven homers and 25 RBI this season in 134 at-bats at Class-A Myrtle Beach. For his short

minor league career, he is batting .293 with 31 homers and 166 RBI.

This will be the second straight season that the 20-year old will be showcased in this prestigious game to showcase talented up-and-coming prospects. Last season, he wowed spectators with a tape measure homer and a highlight reel catch in the outfield.

Cubs backup catcher Victor Caratini was also named to the Futures game but will not be present as he is now with the major league team with the departure of Miguel Montero.
