Former Cubs outfielder signs with Tigers

by - Senior Editor -

Reserve outfielder Leonys Martin has signed a one-year contract worth $1.75 million with the Detroit Tigers according to multiple reports.

In 2017, Martin had 1.72 with seven stolen bases in 49 games.

Martin was used mostly as a defensive replacement in the outfield for the Cubs. This will be an interesting offseason for the Cubs in the outfield because veteran Jon Jay will more than likely be joining another team via free agency.

Cubs outfielder for 2018 appears to be centered around Kyle Schwarber, Albert Almora Jr., and Jason Heyward. However, anything can change as free agency is just now heating up. Of course, everything changes drastically if the Cubs somehow reel in Shohei Ohtani to play in the outfield and pitch.
