Former Cubs pitcher signs with Blue Jays

by - Senior Editor -

Former Chicago Cubs pitcher Brett Anderson has signed a minor-league deal with the Toronto Blue Jays pending a physical on Tuesday according to multiple reports.

Anderson was booed heavily by the Wrigley Field faithful in his last home start and allowed a crazy 19 runs in only 22 innings with the Cubs this season. In his final two games, he got only five total outs, gave up 12 runs, and allowed 13 hits.

For the season, he was 2-2 with 8.18 ERA, 16 strikeouts, and 2.09 WHIP. For his career, he was 40-45 with 3.99 ERA, 523 strikeouts, and 1.34 WHIP.

Anderson is only 29 years old and if he can get healthy, he might get another opportunity to start in the majors in 2018.
