Cubs News: Heyward to miss at least a few games with hamstring injury |
Chicago Cubs right fielder
Jason Heyward got injured in the fifth inning of the team's 5-4 win against the Atlanta Braves on Thursday.
Laying out for an attempted diving catch in center field, Heyward came up empty-handed on a two-run triple by Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman. Slow to get up, Heyward left the game with a right hamstring injury. “Let’s wait until tomorrow to really call it,” Joe Maddon told Cubs.com. “When I went out there, the fact that he was able to walk off the field I thought was a good thing. Being a hamstring puller, I know how bad they are. Walking off is a good sign. He’s seeing a doctor here, but I’m sure they’re going to have to do some tests, and then we’ll be more specific. You’re not going to see him play tomorrow or the next day.” For the season, Heyward is batting .275 with seven homers and 52 RBI.
